We had an amazing stay at Astor. The small dorm room was clean and cozy, and the bathroom was spotless. The common areas were some of the best I've seen, offering a great space to relax and socialize. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The WiFi connection was strong, and the bar had reasonable prices. I highly recommend this hostel.

The staff at the hotel were very friendly. We had a good home cooked evening meal, I had the vegtarian option which was well presented and filling. The other guests were pleasant. Our hosts made a special effort with a group of 7 deaf guests.
The stairs where strange with an odd high step into the annex. The decor was shabby in places.

The hotel had a great location, just a short walk from the train station. The staff were helpful and friendly, especially Louise who gave us great recommendations for things to see and do. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the showers were powerful with plenty of hot water. Plus, the breakfast was delicious and generous, with a good range of options.

We decided to book this hotel for the closeness to York. Didn't really know what to expect due to varied reviews. Was really pleased when we arrived, the hotel was a bit dated in decor, but was clean and the staff went out thier way to make us feel welcome..The room we stayed in was very clean and tidy. We chose the four poster room. The bathroom was really modern with a bath and shower and the decor was excellent in there. We could have had a 3 course evening meal if we wished, the choice of food was lovely.Breakfast was amazing. There was a selection of fruit ,yogurt, cereal, fruit juices and various hot meals as well. You could basically eat enough food to keep you going all day. Overall a very pleasant experience that i would recommend to anyone wishing to stay close to York.

Great location, close to the train station and city center. Super friendly staff who recommended great cafes and places to see. Plenty of communal areas to unwind after a long day, including a bar and a living room. Really enjoyed the spaciousness of the hostel, with lots of room to work and good WiFi. Loved that the breakfast proceeds went to charity.
